Three types of engagement

Each is scoped and quoted per project — not from a rate card. These descriptions tell you what to expect from each type, who it's for, and where the limits are.

01

Process Documentary

Who it's for

Artisans who want to show how their work is made — not just what it looks like when finished. Grant applicants, studio website builders, anyone applying to a residency where images of practice matter more than images of product.

What a session includes

  • Four to five hours on site in your actual working environment
  • Natural light photography wherever the space allows
  • Process coverage across all stages you work through in that session
  • Edited selection delivered within ten working days (typically 15 to 30 images)
  • Licence for web, print, and grant application use

Honest scope note

A half-day session covers one craft discipline in one working environment. It doesn't produce a complete portfolio or a catalogue of finished work. If you need both process images and product photography, that's a different scope — tell us when you write.

02

Portfolio Build

Who it's for

Makers who need a coherent body of images for professional use — gallery submissions, open studio promotion, art fair applications, or a website that represents the full range of their current work.

What a session includes

  • Full day on site (six to seven hours)
  • Coverage of finished work, work in progress, and detail shots
  • Studio environment portraits if required (no styling — as you actually work)
  • Edited selection of 40 to 60 images delivered within fifteen working days
  • Broad licence for professional use across print and digital
  • One revision round on the edited selection

Honest scope note

We don't shoot product photography in a controlled studio setting — if you need clean white-background images for an e-commerce listing, we're not the right fit for that part of the work. Portfolio Build sessions produce documentary images, not product shots.

03

Editorial Assignments

Who it's for

Publications — print and digital — covering craft, design, food production, or related subjects. Residency organisations documenting their programmes. Foundations and institutions producing exhibition catalogues or reports.

What an assignment includes

  • Pre-production call with editorial team to align on scope and format
  • On-site shooting time agreed per assignment
  • Images delivered in formats specified by the publication
  • Licensing terms negotiated directly with editorial or rights department
  • Captions prepared for each image

Honest scope note

We work with publications that give us genuine access to the subjects — not a supervised press visit with a fixed shot list. Editorial integrity means the images reflect what we actually found. If the piece requires something that didn't exist, we're not the right photographer for it.
